After a month and a half of constant travel and packing, we are in our new house in Maryland, just outside of DC. It looks wonderfully spacious, which will last until our furniture gets here and half of it needs to be stored in the basement. But it is a lovely old craftsman, a yellow bungalow with plaster archways and a porch swing and a master bedroom loft that we may not be able to get furniture into at all.
The first thing that happened was that we were an hour out from the house, and
aspenwolf and
stormsinger called to let us know their road trip had gotten derailed by car trouble in Virginia. So now they are staying with us for a few days. We are hanging out, and talking about all things, and trying to get by with no extra bedsheets and kitchen wares meant for two. For some reason, we didn't think we'd have unexpected guests before the moving truck arrived. Because that sort of thing never happens to us, yes.
We are waiting for our internet to be installed, but already on-line because the old tenants left their Comcast on. Then tomorrow we can start exploring our new city. The truck is hypothetically due Sunday or Monday. Which reminds me of a phone call I need to make; excuse me.
