Picked up off of
blackholly.
1. Gone hang-gliding (tried — didn't get off the ground until one brief flight about the last 5 minutes of the day, and didn’t notice that until I was down. Going to do it again when I can afford the full set of lessons and so have time to get into the air—and after I've done some weightlifting, as those gorgeous wings are heavy.
2. Been the kid-who-nuclear-war-is-unhealthy-for at local peace marches, when I was young enough.
3. Finished writing a novel (now in the editing stage—I'm giving it until September and then it goes out). (Of course, since most of my friends list consists of published writers and Nanowrimoers, maybe this doesn't belong here. Other others might not have, at least.)
4. Eaten (and liked) flowers, frog legs, ostrich, star fruit, enokis, fennel pollen, and beef tartare (but refused gefilte fish). Promised to eat grasshoppers, under the right circumstances.
5. Tried to sell my actual phone service to the telemarketers who called me trying to sell theirs.
6. Gotten my doctorate without going completely nuts.
7. Slept in the trunk of a car, because we really wanted to visit the place and couldn't afford a hotel. (The back seats "fold down flat," and we didn't realize until we'd settled in that flat for the purposes of packing luggage is not the same as flat for the purposes of sleeping. And it was cold.)
8. Quoted the dirty version of the med school mnemonic for the cranial nerves to a freshman psych class (that I was teaching). And the dirtier one for Kingdom Phylum Class Order Family Genus Species, too.
9. Planned to build a fleet of starships and enforce peace on Earth at phaser-point (I was young, and in love, and figured that he and I could get the budget by saving up our allowances).
10. Spent a major part of a trip to Italy getting lost in Switzerland. Gorgeous, but those switchbacks! We were trying to find a cave and waterfall in a different part of Italy, and we never did manage it.
