I have been staring at this article I'm trying to write all afternoon with no success.  I'm still trying to work out the next action sequence in Land Beyond the Border in the back of my head.  And I don't want to do the dishes.  So you get a meme instead.  This one appealed to me because I have a reputation as both A) a picky eater, and B) an adventurous eater.

Meme is as follows (ETA: some changes made based on S's better memory):

1) Copy this list into your blog or journal, including these instructions.
2) Bold all the items you’ve eaten.
3) Cross out any items that you would never consider eating.
4) Optional extra: Post a comment here at www.verygoodtaste.co.uk linking to your results.

The VGT Omnivore’s Hundred:

1. Venison (love, and eat every chance I get.  Anyone got some Bambi in their freezer that they don't want?)
2. Nettle tea
3. Huevos rancheros (I love chili, but can't eat more than a small amount of very mild capsacin without getting sick.  It's very sad.  So a heavily salsaed dish is right out.)
4. Steak tartare (It's been way too long since I had this.  Maybe I should try and learn how to make it while we're between pregnancies.)
5. Crocodile (Except, on second thought, I think it may have been alligator.  It was deep-fried and hard to taste anything other than the breading, in either case, so I still need to try this when it's better-made.)
6. Black pudding (The restriction on blood isn't one of the few Kashrut laws I follow, and S loves blood, so I'm sure I'll get to this eventually.)
7. Cheese fondue (Both the good stuff at restaurants and the failed attempt to make it myself.)
8. Carp (In gefilte fish; I've never had it prepared separately.)
9. Borscht (Didn't like it.)
10. Baba ghanoush
11. Calamari (Prohibited even by my wimpy variety of Kashrut.)
12. Pho (The stuff at the top of the Wikipedia entry looks good, though.)
13. PB&J sandwich
14. Aloo gobi
15. Hot dog from a street cart (Not kosher.)
16. Epoisses (I've tried oodles of cheeses, but haven't managed to get around to any of the ones on this list.)
17. Black truffle (It's good, but not as good as morels.)
18. Fruit wine made from something other than grapes (I don't drink.  I've cooked with brandy, but I don't think that counts.)
19. Steamed pork buns (Not kosher)
20. Pistachio ice cream
21. Heirloom tomatoes (There are some in my fridge as I type.)
22. Fresh wild berries
23. Foie gras (I'm not sure about this one.  I've had lots of similar pates, and may well have had this at a particular French place on Long Island.)(ETA: S reminds me that there was some on the kobe beef burger.)
24. Rice and beans (Probably in the technical sense, but every version of this I've encountered has a spice combination that I dislike intensely.)
25. Brawn, or head cheese (Ew.)
26. Raw Scotch Bonnet pepper (What I said about chili pepper...)
27. Dulce de leche (Doesn't do much for me.)
28. Oysters (Not kosher.)
29. Baklava (Takes all afternoon to make, but worth it when you have the time.)
30. Bagna cauda (Not nearly often enough.)
31. Wasabi peas (I eat horseradish strong enough to taste once per year, for religious reasons.)
32. Clam chowder in a sourdough bowl (Not kosher.)
33. Salted lassi (This sounds like something I would hate, and S would love.)
34. Sauerkraut (Ew.)
35. Root beer float (Don't like root beer.)
36. Cognac with a fat cigar (Don't drink, don't smoke.  Will cheerfully cook with the cognac, though.)
37. Clotted cream tea
38. Vodka jelly/Jell-O (Does not get past the 'don't drink' issue by being mixed with something I hate.)
39. Gumbo (Theoretically possible, but most varieties have pork and/or shellfish, plus are too spicy for me.)
40. Oxtail (S has been after me to make sherried oxtail for ages.)
41. Curried goat (I've had it with lingonberry sauce, but not curried.)
42. Whole insects (I have a standing promise to eat grasshoppers when B gets around to preparing them.)
43. Phaal (Wikipedia says "It is one of the hottest forms of curry regularly available," so probably not.)
44. Goat’s milk (But I've had goat's milk cheeses.)
45. Malt whisky from a bottle worth £60/$120 or more (Still don't drink.)
46. Fugu (There are so many wonderful foods in the world that are not potentially poisonous.)
47. Chicken tikka masala (I believe I've had a version that didn't involve tomato sauce, but I'm not sure.)(ETA: Duh.  S reminds me that I made it myself last year.)
48. Eel (Didn't like it.)
49. Krispy Kreme original glazed doughnut
50. Sea urchin (Not kosher.)
51. Prickly pear (Not yet.)
52. Umeboshi (This sounds unpleasant, since I don't usually like anything pickled, but I'd probably try a bite.)
53. Abalone (Not kosher)
54. Paneer
55. McDonald’s Big Mac Meal (I used to eat their burgers every once in a while when I was desperate; that's close enough.)
56. Spaetzle (I have a recipe I've been meaning to try.)
57. Dirty gin martini (Etc.)
58. Beer above 8% ABV (Etc.)
59. Poutine
60. Carob chips (A vile conspiracy to deprive young children of their rightful chocolate.)
61. S’mores
62. Sweetbreads
63. Kaolin
64. Currywurst (Unlike shellfish, pork's not that much of a sacrifice.)
65. Durian
66. Frogs’ legs
67. Beignets, churros, elephant ears or funnel cake
68. Haggis
69. Fried plantain
70. Chitterlings, or andouillette (Pork.  When we were visiting J&S in Louisiana, they were selling these everywhere.)
71. Gazpacho
72. Caviar and blini (Not together, but yes.)
73. Louche absinthe (Still don't drink)
74. Gjetost, or brunost
75. Roadkill (It was venison, in fact.)
76. Baijiu (This is getting exasperating.)
77. Hostess Fruit Pie  (I don't like fruit desserts even when well-made.  I've had twinkies, though, in the mis-spent days of my youth.)
78. Snail (Not kosher.  And that's okay.)
79. Lapsang souchong (This sounds good.)
80. Bellini (This is exasperating.)
81. Tom yum
82. Eggs Benedict (With the bacon left out.  Though I could try it myself with turkey bacon...)
83. Pocky
84. Tasting menu at a three-Michelin-star restaurant. (I've never encountered a tasting menu that didn't have me staring mournfully at the poached lobster with anise, followed by the bacon flavored ice cream, followed by...)
85. Kobe beef (In burger form, at a sadly defunct restaurant in Oak Park.)
86. Hare
87. Goulash
88. Flowers (Roses and violets are best.)
89. Horse (I think there are several friends who wouldn't forgive me.)
90. Criollo chocolate (Not and known it, though I've eaten enough good chocolate that it's quite possible.)
91. Spam (Not kosher.  And that's okay.)
92. Soft shell crab (Not kosher.)
93. Rose harissa (Roses, yes.  Hot sauce, not so much.)
94. Catfish (Not sure.  It wasn't very memorable, if I did.)
95. Mole poblano
96. Bagel and lox
97. Lobster Thermidor (This sounds like it would be one of my favorite dishes.)
98. Polenta
99. Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee (Don't like coffee.)
100. Snake

So, 30 31 that I've tried.  14 that I can't eat unless I stop keeping kosher.  9 because I'm a teetotaller.  4 because of excess levels of capsacin.  11 because of genuine pickiness.  That leaves 32 31 still to try.  I'd better get to work on that.

"15. Hot dog from a street cart (Not kosher.)"

Hey! I've seen Hebrew National carts from time to time...don't give up on this yet.

That would move it from the "not kosher" column to the picky column. Even really good non-pork sausages tend to fall under the category of "would eat it if it was the only food available and I was very hungry."

I'm the only one in my family that will eat\appreciate Bambie.

I have a friend of a friend that gets deer occasionally from nuisance permits. I usually come home(after helping butcher) with anywhere from 8-14lbs of Bambie.

I'll keep you in mind next time I get some & figure out a safe way to get it to you?

As for Steak tartare, It's a rare treat that I get to have, and should probably give my uncle a call to see how he makes his b/c it is awesome :)
